FoodPool, Inc. is a California corporation headquartered in Oakland, CA. We are a charity exempt from Federal income tax under section 501(c)(3). Donations to FoodPool are tax deductible.

Founder/Chairman: Andrew Sigal
 
Andrew Sigal Andrew Sigal is a culinary historian living in Oakland, California. An avid gardener, he created an 800 square foot vegetable garden that constantly produces too much food for him to use. Living in a community where many go hungry, letting this excess go to waste was unacceptable. Thus, FoodPool was born.

Andrew holds BAs in Computer Science and Economics from the Univeristy of California at Santa Cruz and a Certificate in Culinary Arts from Culinary School of the Rockies (now renamed The August Escoffier School of Culinary Arts.)
   
Board member/secretary: janet chrzan 
Janet Chrzan Janet Chrzan holds a Ph.D. in Nutritional/Medical Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania where she currently teaches nutrition courses in the School of Nursing. She is past-president of the Society for the Anthropology of Food and Nutrition (SAFN), and founded the Haverford Township Farmers Market Association and Oakmont Farmers Market in Haverford Township, PA.
   
Board member/treasurer: Mitch Anstey
Mitch Anstey Mitch Anstey was an early leader of FoodPool - Montclair. He holds a degree in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley and is currently on the staff at Sandia National Labratories.
   
Board member: Carmi Weininger
Carmi Weininger Carmi Weininger has a wealth of experience as an entrepreneur and business consultant. She is owner of The Reactor Panel Saddle Company, and serves on the board of Jewish Family and Children's Services of the East Bay and The Aurora Theatre Company.
